Volunteers Needed! ...Gifts Involved!

I'm trying to transcribe a strip, really I am! But the system doesn't seem to be working. I'll click on a strip, and it will give me a prompt telling me that I should only do this if I'm ready to "make that serious a commitment", and to click on the "Transcribe This Strip" button. Then I get to the box with the Edit link. When I click it, the status changes to "This strip is currently being transcribed by someone else." And I cannot make any changes. There isn't even anything on the screen that I can change.

It does this for every strip I try. There are now several that say they were "Entered" by Dargocitfer (me), but I cannot actually make any changes. I tried IE, Firefox, and even Chrome.

Am I losing my mind? (Always a possibility.)

I got the same thing. In case you need this info, the strip I was trying to edit was 1/07/09.

Same thing here. Too bad... I just learned of this feature from your post. I've been a long time reader of this awesome strip and I am so happy that I finally have a way to contribute some of my blood, sweat, and tears to it. Okay, fine, maybe just some carpal tunnel syndrome...

I'll keep my eye on the thread. I've got a bit of free desk time today and tomorrow, might be able to transcribe a few once this is fixed! But for the moment I've got the same symptoms as everyone else...

Is there any way to check the number you have done?

I was trying to transcribe a strip and had the same problem as above. I tried to do a couple of strips and it just didn't seem to work. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'll keep an eye on this forum as well, see if someone comes up with a solution. Thanks!

Out of curiosity what browser and OS are you using?

Vista and Chrome 10

I am on a mac... tried both firefox and Safari going to download chrome and try that.

I'm 7 and Chrome 10, but its borked for me.

ya chrome doesn't work for me either.

Well it's now 12:15 DST on Thursday and it's still a problem.

Ready and willing to help, Dave, once the site get's fixed. I'll keep trying every few hours.

I'm after the sketch, but I'm having a blast doing this! I've transcribed a few of my favourite strips!

I'm having trouble seeing where to add the text. I got as far as adding the characters, but as far as I can see I can only add characters, location and props unless I'm missing something obvious. Help!

Iave it try like many others but I too had problems. I'm on Vista and tried both IE and Firefox. First time posting. Thanks for the great strips. I've been reading for couple of years now and I look forward to them.

I, too, am having problems. Each time I click on a strip to transcribe it, it tells me that the information has been entered by my username, but it won't let me enter anything because it says that it is being transcribed by someone else. I am using Firefox, by the way, if it helps.
